A Re-Introduction of Self 11- years After Starting This Blog Site

Written on August 18th, 2020 in Washington DC

The pictures above reflect the energy and enthusiasm of one person with 10 years of life in between. A version of myself that was carefree and fun & another more responsible and professional.

At this time in my career as a bold, collectivist-minded International Educator, I am in need of a regular outlet for self-expression. Whoa! It's just hit me how so much has changed in my life, value structure and worldview. I am now introducing myself as a professional within a career as an educator.

But, it should be noted in this new intro that when I say that I have experienced so much and sacrificed a lot to re-introduce myself this way, sighhh...just trust me.

The image above is this blog's original cover image and header and it reflects the soul of myself and the origins of this site. And Yes, that is a real four-leaf clover that I found in 2012 while living in Nakatsu, Japan.  I love that I am "Dusting off" this old blog that has not been used since perhaps, one of the last times that I lived abroad in Korea or Japan or maybe, Ghana. I used this platform as a vehicle for sending out my thoughts and sharing my unique experiences within the ever changing global contexts that I found myself in. Remember, this is loong before the days of the booming Black travel movement of today. But, truth be told, I was never the most consistent blogger and instead preferred the use of a personal journal. But, I guess this is evidence nonetheless that I have always had a bit of a exhibitionist streak that enjoys sharing publically whats different, new, personal and even controversial. This is likely related to my Black identity and the reality that I was the only one doing the type of cool and unconventional things that have done. I am glad that the title of the blog still fits (#timeless).

So, with that said, I look forward to engaging in an open dialogue with friends, peers, mentors, more seasoned professionals and the world wide web about observations from my life/profession that warrant outward commentary moving forward.

Thanks in advance for your constructive feedback. I appreciate a difference of opinion, or better yet, an opportunity to grow from learning another point of view outside of my own. Do not hold back.
